Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Ofsted-registered?

Yes, for up to 60 children per session. Registration number EY555836. Our registration certificate is displayed within the book on the Little Tinkers board in the school's main entrance and details about our provision can be found here.

What are your opening hours?

7:30-9am and 3:15-6pm

Do you provide food?

Yes. During the morning sessions there's a rolling breakfast until 8:30am, offering a choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt. During the afternoon sessions there is a fruit-based snack. The weekly menu is always available to view at main reception, and we cater for those with allergies. We are registered with the Food Standards Agency and were last inspected on 01-Oct-18. You can see the details here.

What are the session costs?

Two different session costs are available for both morning and afternoon sessions, dependent upon the length of your child's stay with Little Tinkers.

7:30-9am - £6 / 8-9am - £4.50

3:15-6pm - £10 / 3:15-5:30pm - £8

Session lengths are chosen at the point of bookings, not on the day itself.

Are you open during school holidays?

No, we are a term-time only provision.

What are the ages of the children you care for?

We provide wraparound care for children at Norbury Hall Primary School from reception class, right up to those in year 6. Unfortunately at this stage we do not offer childcare for pre-school children, but hope to do so in the future.

Who will look after my child whilst at Little Tinkers?

We have a lovely small team at Little Tinkers, who comprise of people with a formal childcare background as well as those who already know your child through working at the school as midday assistants. All staff have been DBS-checked, safeguarding trained, and most also hold a full paediatric first aid certificate. The board at the main entrance will always inform you of who's working the day's sessions. Rebecca is the setting manager and heads up the breakfast sessions. Matt is the sessional manager for the afternoon sessions.

How do I register?

Registration is handled by our online system. There is a one-off registration fee of £15 per family.

How do I book?

You are in charge of your own bookings through our online system, and can attend regularly or on an adhoc basis. The system locks in your bookings three days prior to the session itself, but before that point you can add or remove any particular sessions, and will only be charged for what you need. It is at the point of booking that you will be required to specify whether you require a shorter or longer session, and will be billed accordingly. Sessions are released on a half-termly basis, around a fortnight before the school holidays. If the system is able to detect a pattern of booking, it will automatically suggest that your previous term's bookings rollover into the new half term.

How do I pay?

Your accounts are updated online on a real-time basis dependent on which sessions you've booked, so you always know exactly where you're up to. Payment for your child's sessions are due in advance. We're happy to be led by yourselves as to whether that means weekly, monthly, or termly in advance. There are several routes of payment (all detailed fully within the system): GoCardless / bank transfer / tax-free childcare / childcare vouchers. As soon as we see a payment has been made, we'll reconcile it onto your account accordingly.

Where do I drop-off and/or collect my child?

All drop-offs and collections are completed at the school's main reception. There is a dedicated Little Tinkers doorbell to the left of the main doors. Please remember to sign the register at drop-offs and collections. For simplicity, it is sorted by session time, then alphabetically by surname.

My child attends an on-site club after school. Can you collect them?

Yes. Simply let us know via the system which club your child attends and when they finish and we'll ensure we bring them back to Little Tinkers afterwards. You simply book the session on the system with the appropriate home time you require (5:30pm or 6pm)

My child goes straight from Little Tinkers onto another club. Can they eat with you and/or get changed beforehand?

Yes. If you provide a packed tea and we will ensure it's appropriately refrigerated throughout the day, and give it to your child at around 5pm (we do however ask that the food you provide does not contain any nuts due to serious allergies suffered by other attendees at the setting). Likewise, any changes of clothes should be sent along with your child in the morning. Please remind us at morning drop-off of your child's specific requirements and timings for their onward session.

How do I contact Little Tinkers?

We can be contacted in a number of ways - mobile: 07808 653926 / email: [email protected] / facebook: littletinkersnorbury

I'm running late - what do I do?

We know that sometimes the journey back from work won't go according to plan. Either give us a call or drop us a text on 07808 653926 as soon as you can to let us know, so that we can manage your child's expectations, and in turn ensure that we have the correct number of staff in place to cover your child's extended stay.

I need to add a session for my child within the three day lock-in period

At Little Tinkers we'll always aim to be as flexible as possible, and where spaces allow we'll add the session onto your account. Just give us a call on the mobile - 07808 653926.

My child doesn't need a session I've previously booked for them

If you're outside of the three day lock-in, simply log into the online system and amend the booking using the 'book by individual dates' button. Removal of the session at this stage will mean you're not charged. If you're within the three day lock-in, please give us a call or drop us a text (07808 653926) and we'll make a note on the system. You will still be charged for the session.
